Free tools for ESG reporting
Work out emissions with the factors shown, look up a factor and its source, check what a BRSR needs, collect monthly data in a template, see where one figure is asked for across frameworks, and look up the terms. No account, nothing stored.
The tools
- Emissions calculatorScope 1 from fuels and Scope 2 from grid electricity in India, with every factor and step shown
- Emission factor finderSearch the factors bundled with ESGTrack — IPCC, CEA, US EPA, Our World in Data — with their source and basis
- BRSR readiness checklistWhat to have in place before your BRSR, a BRSR Core assessment or assurance, and the XBRL filing
- Monthly ESG data templateA spreadsheet for fuel, electricity, water, waste and safety by site and month, with Scope 1 and 2 worked out
- Framework mapping explorerSee where a BRSR Core figure is asked for in GRI, IFRS S2, ESRS, CDP and SASB — and how closely it matches
- ESG reporting glossaryPlain explanations of the terms in BRSR, carbon accounting and assurance
Why these tools are free
ESG reporting in India has a lot of avoidable mistakes in it: a kWh entered where a GJ was wanted, a grid factor from the wrong year, a "not applicable" without a reason, a figure nobody can trace back to a bill. Most of them come from not having a method in front of you at the moment you need it.
These tools put the method in front of you. They use the same factor library and framework crosswalk as ESGTrack itself, so what you see here is what the product does — with the sources attached, and with the limits written down.
What they are not
- Not a substitute for an inventory methodology, evidence or review
- Not a filing: the BRSR is filed through the exchanges' utility, in PDF and XBRL
- Not assurance: BRSR Core figures need an independent assessor or assurer
- Not storage: close the page and the inputs are gone — which is the point
When you need the figures kept, approved, evidenced and filed, that is what the platform is for.
Questions about the free tools
Do I need an account to use these tools?
No. Every tool on this page works without signing in, and nothing you enter is stored — the calculator and the factor finder work from the address in your browser, and the checklist keeps its ticks in your browser only.
Where do the factors come from?
From the same bundled library ESGTrack uses: the IPCC 2006 Guidelines and 2019 Refinement, the Central Electricity Authority's CO2 Baseline Database, the US EPA's Emission Factors Hub and supply-chain factors, and Our World in Data's grid intensities. Each factor shows its publisher, edition, basis and table reference.
Can I use the results in my BRSR or GHG inventory?
The calculator and template show the method and the factors so that you can check them; whether a factor is right for your inventory is a decision for your methodology, which should record the factor used and why. For a filed report you also need evidence, review and — for BRSR Core — assessment or assurance, which these tools do not provide.
